Calderdale Geoscience Limited (CGL1) is a London UK-based, petroleum exploration consultancy.
Formed in April 2004, CGL comprises a company of independent geoscientists and engineers who specialise in the
following disciplines:
Licence Round Management and Support.
Members of CGL have worked on many
Licence Rounds over the years, many of which have resulted in successful applications.
Dave Melnyk and Jo Prigmore bring many years of licence round work experience, gained within major oil companies.
Seismic Interpretation, Geological Analysis, Asset Evaluation and Resource Calculation.
Jo Prigmore and Dave Melnyk have worked together for several companies as interpreters and explorationists. Chris Johns has produced many Competent Persons' Reports (CPRs).
Paul Emerson specialises in reservoir characterisation and has worked on many equity redeterminations. Roman Bobolecki contributes many years of CPR petrophysics.
ERCE brings quantitative interpretation and rock physics expertise.
CGL maintains an extensive library of surfaces, wells and other data, which can be utilised in the early stages of interpretation to provide stratigraphic context and verify the seismic signature of the target horizons. In addition, CGL has a long tradition in stratigraphic and geological analysis; and strives to remain innovative in these disciplines.
Supported Technologies: IHS Kingdom™, OpendTect™, TerraStation™, PetroMod™, Strater™, Crystal Ball™, MathCad™
Core Description and Core Logging.
CGL recognises the fundamental importance of excellent core description to geological modelling at all scales.
Paul Emerson is a highly experienced sedimentologist, with many years of core description, facies analysis, depositional modelling and mapping experience of the NW European continental shelf and North Africa.
Supported Technologies: Strater™
Pore Pressure Analysis.
The importance of geopressure analysis to the study of basin hydrodynamics, seal strength, fluid contacts, overpressure and fracture gradients, petroleum migration and well design are well established.
CGL collaborates with
Global Geopressure Advice who is expert in all aspects of the science of geopressure.
Supported Technologies: RokDoc™
Thematic, Common Risk Segment (CRS) Mapping , Play Mapping and Ranking.
As petroleum provinces mature, the amount of spatially organised data proliferates making the process of synthesising information and discovering new resources ever more difficult and time-consuming. CGL has strived to become expert at mining technical and commercial information from such data, using existing mapping and GIS tools. CGL has focussed on developing spatial databases from these data, which can help accelerate the exploration process. This regional, ‘data driven’ approach facilitates the ready production of digital, thematic maps at all scales illustrating themes, such as: maps of depositional systems and structural style at the basin scale; the reservoir, seal and charge components of common risk segment maps at the play scale; and prospect risk maps at the licence and block scales.
Dave Melnyk brings many years of geological and GIS experience to this exploration discipline.
Supported Technologies: Manifold GIS™, QGIS™, MapInfo™, Surfer™, MapViewer™
Geological and Geophysical Data Capture, Formatting, Loading, Distribution and Sales.
With over three decades of experience in data-loading, and developing and populating relational databases for the geosciences, CGL can now offer the following: geological and geophysical database design and build; data capture and formatting; data-room build and support; data-sales.
Pete Stanley has solved many data loading and data reformatting problems by providing clients with
bespoke programming and database solutions.
Supported Technologies: SQL support and Relational Data Storage Design; .NET Application Development; Customised Scripting.
Petrophysics and Reservoir Engineering Support.
CGL was an early player in unconventional resource calculation and has worked the Devonian shale gas play of the eastern USA.
Tissa Jayasekera, Roman Bobolecki and ERCE bring over 30 years of experience in reservoir engineering, conventional and unconventional petrophysical analysis and resource calculation .
Supported Technologies: TerraStation™, IP™
1 CGL is privately owned by the directors and by Equipoise Solutions Ltd.
